"Creating Community and Family throughout West Tennessee since 1978"
The Diocese of Memphis Housing Corporation (DMHC) was chartered in 1976 in the State of Tennessee with the mission of providing affordable housing to the elderly who are unable to meet the expense of housing without assistance.
The Housing Corporation was founded under the Most Reverend Carroll T. Dozier, the first Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Memphis in West Tennessee.
The Housing Corporation provides independent, peaceful, decent housing for the low-income elderly with subsidies from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).
The income limits for admission to subsidized housing are determined by HUD and are established within the categories of low-income, very low-income, and extremely low-income.
Residents must be at least 62 years of age and/or mobility impaired in order to be eligible for HUD subsidy.
Monthly rent paid by the resident is based on adjusted income, after deductions for medical expenses, prescriptions, medicare, and medical insurance premiums.
All apartments are equipped with kitchen appliances, heat and air conditioning. The cost of utilities is included in the rent. (Telephone, TV cable, and internet are available at the resident’s expense.)
DMHC does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, sex, creed, national origin, sexual preference or familial status.
