Diocese of Memphis Housing Corporation

LIVE IN A COMMUNITY ESPECIALLY DESIGNED WITH YOU IN MIND. OTHERS ARE THERE TO SHARE IN THE EXPERIENCE.. IT IS A HOME WITH A HEART!
At St. Mary Manor, the staff will share with the residents the responsibility of creating an atmosphere of home — where incredible warmth and mutual concern become
a way of life.
The manor is people — coming together from varied religious, ethnic, and occupational backgrounds for companionship and for the opportunity to fulfill their dreams for a comfortable and satisfying life.
St. Mary Manor is sponsored by the Diocese of Memphis and managed by the Diocese of Memphis Housing Corporation.
DMHC was chartered in 1976 in the State of Tennessee with the mission of providing affordable housing to the elderly who are unable to meet the expense of housing without assistance.
The Housing Corporation was founded under the Most Reverend Carroll T. Dozier, the first Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Memphis in West Tennessee.
St. Mary Manor provides independent, peaceful, decent housing for the low-income elderly with subsidies from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).
The income limits for admission to subsidized housing are determined by HUD and are established within the categories of low-income, very low-income, and extremely low-income.
Residents must be at least 62 years of age and/or mobility impaired in order to be eligible for HUD subsidy.
Applicants must be able to live independently without assistance.
Monthly rent paid by the resident is 30% of adjusted monthly income after all out-of-pocket medical expenses are deducted.
The cost of utilities is included in the rent. Television cable, telephone, and high-speed internet service are available at the expense of the resident.
The following additional services are offered at St. Mary Manor: Service Coordinator Support.
Through a HUD grant, a Service Coordinator works with the residents to educate and assist them in connecting to services that are available to them in the community.
Neighborhood Network Learning Centers.
These learning centers are equipped with computers for the use of residents for writing or to communicate with friends and family via e-mail and to do research on the World Wide Web.
In addition to standard computers, the learning centers have equipment that is designed for the visually impaired. Resident Council.
St. Mary Manor has an active Resident Council, made up of residents that meet regularly to plan activities and to keep residents informed of any news or any changes. The meetings normally include refreshments and a guest speaker.

St. Mary Manor is a beautiful, modern living facility that blends independent apartment living with community sharing and interactions.
